We first met Marje Prior in mid year 2016. She had just completed her OUR PARKLANDS HOME – History of the Riverside Centre in Orange. When we saw the book we knew it was the kind of Coffee Table Book we wanted to celebrate the 150 years of the presence of the Sisters of Mercy in this Central West of NSW. We had just completed the first draft of the writing of our own book and were looking for someone to edit and format it for us. We had many photos that Sister Ann-Maree O’Beirne rsm had taken over the past decade and had gained copyright for some earlier historic photos and images of our Founder –Catherine McAuley.
Marje Prior on investigation was both interested and available to work with us on our project. So for the months of August and September 2016 we sent material by e-mail back and forth to her to where she was residing with her daughter in Western Australia.
We found Marje extremely competent and ready to move material into new and interesting formats. Nothing was a difficulty for her. She changed text and photos as we desired. She found ways to insert quotations and extra details at our request. She returned to Bathurst late September ready to work daily with us on the final drafts. Her professionalism is unquestioned.
Marje Prior has a gentle manner and a quiet sense of purpose that enables her to work with her customers through the many ambiguities and paradoxes that occur in book publishing. Her enthusiasm for her task is contagious. We have learnt to admire both her vision and skills. She has assisted us in marketing our book now that it is published. The above Letterhead for our Project is another of Marje’s inventions.
We have received nothing but praise for the book which we published: Through Catherine’s Eyes: Stories of Mercy Ministries Since Vatican II. Marje Prior enabled us to produce such a successful book.
We have no hesitation in recommending ON THE STONE as a highly efficient Publishing and Marketing Company and Marje Prior as its very capable and professional Director.
