Click here to listen to this ABC Social History documentary produced by Marje Prior following the No Base Movement in the mid 1980s.

It documents the experiences of rural women in the Central West and Cobar Regions who came together to campaign against the federal government from reclaiming their land for an Army Base.

Their work was instrumental in stopping this from occurring. They mobilised to access Freedom of Information materials from the Department of Defence, tracked and alerted farmers to when the Army PR team was in their area; and developed local campaign strategies that embarrassed and ultimately defeated the Defence PR team’s attempts to convince country people that it was in their best interests.
